This has been a fishing bay for generations. It has a particular fishing atmosphere, although there are few fishermen or fishing boats left these days. Of course, fishermen choose it because it is well sheltered from all winds except a strong jugo or SW wind, and in these conditions, you should shelter behind the pier with a lighthouse on the west side of the bay (the depth at the head of the pier is 1.6 metres). Anchor in this lovely bay (the depth in the middle is about 10 metres) in the silty and sandy bed, mostly covered in algae. On the northeast side of the bay, between the warehouse where fish used to be salted, and another house, which is permanently inhabited, is the Chapel of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, which gave its name to the bay. An unmade road leads from the bay to the village of Jezera, about 2 kilometres away. Use the high, rocky point of Murterić, with its lighthouse, as an orientation point as you sail into the bay from a distance. The point is less than half a mile west of the bay.
