This uninhabited bay, with an islet of the same name, is a popular anchorage for anyone wanting to have a last swim before sailing into Marina Jezera, or while waiting for the bridge in Tisno to be lifted. Depending on the wind, you can anchor in the lee of the island, sheltered from the maestral and the jugo, unless it gets up in the bay opposite the islet. Between the southeast point of the bay and the islet, there is a wide, shallow shelf (7 to 9 metres). The bay opposite the islet, covered in undergrowth, has two arms. In both, the depth is only around 5 or 6 metres 20 metres from the shore. The bed is sandy, covered in sea grass in places, and on a sunny day, the sea reflects a lovely turquoise hue. It is also very pleasant anchoring around the islets to the north of Hrbošnjak, by Borovnik or Ljutac, or by Bisaga, to the northeast. (The depth in the narrow passage between Borovnik and Ljutac is 5.5m). You will feel a rather strong, changeable current by these islands, flowing through the channel between the shore and Murter. The headquarters of the oldest sailing school in Croatia is located in neighbouring Jezera (known as ANA), so as you sit at anchor you will be able to watch people having sailing lessons. Do not be surprised is someone heads at speed directly at you. It is only part of a training exercise, and they will turn in time. In the same harbour, there is the largest Croatian centre for big game fishing. But they do not hunt swordfish and tuna around Hrbošnjak. They take their clients much further away, usually to the outer side of the Kornati islands, and at the end of the summer, you will often see them setting out.
