If Soline and Paltana are too busy for your taste and you prefer something quieter, try your luck half a mile further south, by sailing round Paljež Point and into Valmižeja Bay. It is much smaller than Paltana and is usually completely empty. There are no buildings in sight. There used to be a dense wood, with undergrowth reaching right down to the sea, but it has been mostly destroyed by forest fires. However, the shores are turning green again. The bay is completely exposed to the west and cannot be used during the maestral and tramontana. Anchor at a depth of between 10 and 15 metres in the sandy bed. Towards the base, the bay curves north, but this part is accessible only to 7 or 8 metre long boats.
