This is an anchorage for those with a refined taste. I cannot say it is completely safe, because it faces the open sea, exposed to N winds, and during a strong maestral or jugo, the islets which protect it prove too small to be of much use. But in normal summer conditions, or in September, when the season is dying down, anchoring in the east section of the passage between Stomorina and Češvinica is a real experience. Although you will be only a little over a mile from the far east point of Lastovo, you will feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere, lost in the open sea. The boats bringing bathers leave as the day wanes, and however many times I have stayed here, I have always been alone at night, with perhaps just a fishing boat or two for company. Waking up completely alone, jumping into the clear sea and setting out to do some long line fishing around the little islands, whose only inhabitants are goats brought out to summer pastures, is simply delicious. It is impossible to describe – you must try it for yourself. The best place to drop anchor is between the two islands, at a depth of between 10 and 15 metres, and tie up stern to shore on Češvinica. The bed is sandy, mostly covered in sea grass. The passage between Češvinica and Stomorina is sandy and about 3 metres deep, so you can sail through with no worries. There is another good anchorage, on the north side of the little island of Saplun.
