Pupnatska Harbour (Korčula)

Pupnatska Harbour (Korčula)

This bay, which extends 500 metres inland, boasts the loveliest beach on the island at its base. The beach is a major attraction, and bathers arrive by land and sea. There are several houses by the beach. There used to be a tavern, but it has closed down. Who knows, perhaps it might open again one day. I would recommend anchoring in the middle of the bay, at a depth of about 10 metres, in the sandy bed, partially covered in sea grass. There is good purchase and you can stay overnight, though you should remember that the shores of the bay are steep, and a strong thermal wind blows at night from the shore. Once, I stopped here during a strong bura. I dropped double anchors and had a troublefree night. The bay is exposed to S and SW winds, and should be avoided in these conditions.
