Medulin Harbour

Medulin Harbour

Most sailors sail into the inner section of Medulin Bay on the way to the marina in Pomer. But you can anchor throughout the bay, where depths allow, apart from in the mouth, where there is a lot of traffic. As soon as you sail a little further in, the lagoon atmosphere takes over. The harbour is sheltered from all winds except a strong jugo, which only reaches the far end of the shallow bay, Funtane, in the form of swell. You can anchor almost everywhere, though it is rather shallow, but the best place is in the western section, by Muća Point, at the entrance to the marina, or near the shore south of the marina. Pomerski Školjić is also a good place. The bed is mostly silty, so the anchor holds well, and you will find a quiet spot, because most of the shore is undeveloped. Mind the shallows in Burle Bay, where there are several jetties used by locals from Medulin. There are also shallows west of Premantura Školjić, and there is an abandoned shellfish farm to the west of these shallows. At the extreme west end of the harbour there is a large area of shallows, which was once a fish farm. After dropping anchor, make for the shore. Medulin is a lively town, and although tourism has made its mark, if you want to experience an authentic atmosphere, go to Mižerija tavern on the quay. Here the local fishermen congregate, to enjoy good wine and seafood. If your anchorage is nearer Pomer, try Miramara restaurant, where the food is just as good. If you feel like stretching your legs, walk to Ližnjan or Premantura.
