Taršće (Pakleni Islands)

Taršće (Pakleni Islands)

This is another excellent island anchorage, perhaps less popular than Vinogradišće, which is half a mile away, but since the bay is uninhabited, it is quiet, and we recommend it. When it is too busy in Vinogradišće, as the season reaches its peak, Taršće is a good alternative. It provides good shelter from all winds except a strong jugo, which raises waves. The bay is wide and long, ending in a small, sheltered section, with a pretty pebble beach. It is half a mile from Taršće Point to the base. The depth in the outer section is about 20 metres, and this area is used by large vessels and mega-yachts, while smaller boats usually anchor in the sheltered north end. It is a good idea to tie up stern to shore, preferably on the east shore, which is somewhat shallower. You can drop anchor in the sandy bed at a depth of between 10 and 15 metres. There is a proper path from this bay to Vinogradišće and Palmižana, and on the other side to Vlaka, and if you want to get a good meal, try Meneghello restaurant in Palmižana or Tonči’s in Vlaci.
