Tri Luke (Three Harbours) Bay, on the southwest coast of Korčula, comprises three coves, indented 500 metres inland. The coves are well sheltered from winds from the W, S and E. The two western arms are also sheltered from SW winds. When the bura is blowing, it is best to drop anchor and tie up stern to shore, and it is not a bad idea to do so in other weather conditions. There is no protection from a strong jugo, so it is best then to go to the little lagoon in the lee of Pržnjak Mali and Pržnjak Veli islands. The best place to anchor is in the most westerly, sheltered arm, or just in front of it. The depth is about 6 or 7 metres and the bed is sandy. I remember coming here about 20 years ago, when there were only buildings in the most easterly cove, before people started building holiday homes in the other two. Still, the harmony of the Dalmatian landscape has not been spoiled – the pines still reach down to the sea. The last time I was here, we arrived late at night. We dropped anchor in the western arm, appreciated the peace and quiet, and in the morning, sailed on to Veli Pržnjak, where we found a lovely beach for our morning swim.
