Another bay from the tourist posters. Taken from the air, it has graced Croatian tourist exhibitions for years, with little boats moored beneath the pines, in a bay which imitates its own name (“Winding”), curving into the shoreline in an S-shape. So Krivica is a good choice for photographers. This bay on the southwest shore of Lošinj is recessed, and the inner section is well protected from winds and waves on all sides. It is further sheltered by the pines which come almost down to the water, leaving a strip of rocky coast. Only the outer section is exposed to SW winds. During the day, it is full of little excursion boats bringing bathers from nearby Lošinj, but in the evening, it is left to sailors. Even so, there can be many of them. Apart from a few holiday homes hidden in the woods, the bay is uninhabited, providing an authentic sailing experience. Since the bay is long and narrow, the most usual place to anchor in Krivica is in the most recessed part. Drop the anchor in the sandy bed, about five or six metres deep, and use two stern ropes. One of our writers, whose boat is kept on Mali Lošinj and knows Krivica well, says there is a lovely little beach at the south entrance to the bay, which you can reach by dinghy, through a ten-metre passage between the rocks, and that the walk to Veli Lošinj, about two and half kilometres away, is very pleasant. If you want a bite to eat, take the path to the next cove, Balvanida, where there is a good tavern of the same name. You can also anchor there.
