The anchorage in the two mile long bay of Brgulje, between the islet of Brgulje and Brgumul, has been well known for many years. The village of Brgulje is less than a kilometer away, toward the interior. The islet, covered by a dense pine forest, protects the anchorage well.
The anchorage is under concession and 70 buoys have been installed between the island and the coast. They are managed by the local agricultural cooperative, which anchored large blocks, monitors the security of the berths and disposes of garbage. If you do not find a place at the buoys, the sandy sea bottom covered in places with grass, holds anchors well. You can take advantage of the situation and go toward the bottom of the inlet, which is known as Luka, and anchor there in the company of a significantly fewer number of boats and enjoy the solitude because the entire southwestern side of the cove and part of the southeastern side are uninhabited.
The outer part of the bay is exposed to the south wind (jugo) but well protected from the north wind (bura) and the sea-to-coast wind (maestral). Wherever you anchor or moor, your main concerns will be relaxing on board and swimming. This is just the place! From the outer side of the inner harbor for boats belonging to the local inhabitants, the mole has been extended and moorings installed.
In the village are two inns, Janko and Papa, where you can have some fish. If you need to purchase something, of the two stores, one is located along the waterfront and the other is a ten-minute walk to a remote village, which has been nearly completely abandoned. All its residents moved to houses along the shore, where a genuine little nautical community has developed. 30 berths on the waterfront and boats at anchor make the summers here lively.
If you go in the direction of the old village, when you climb the hill you can turn off the road and walk to a belvedere, where there is a good view of nearly the entire bay and the yachts sailing along the southwestern coast of Molat. At the exit from the bay, on its northeast shore, you will find the uninhabited cove of Podgarbe. This pretty cove is suitable for anchorage in any weather, except when the south wind (jugo) is blowing. The sea bottom is sandy, somewhat covered with grass, and after you drop anchor you can take a swim.
