This is a large, uninhabited bay on the south side of Šolta, just by the Gates of Split, the location of the heaviest sea traffic in the Adriatic. Even so, it is quiet and peaceful. How long this will last is a matter of opinion, because they are planning to build a large tourist resort in Livka. Until then, however, you can drop anchor here, mostly in solitude. I have never found many boats here. During the day, a few excursion boats arrive, cruising the islands, but they always leave before evening. There are plenty of small boats from Split, but they do not usually stay overnight. This is probably because there are much more popular anchorages nearby. In any case, Split sailors tend to view the Gates of Split as a point of passage, rather than a destination. The bay is completely exposed to the jugo, and is recessed a full mile inland. It is well sheltered from other winds, particularly from the maestral and tramontana. It is deep in the middle, so you should drop anchor in the sandy bed in the north section, at a depth of 15 metres.
