This bay extends almost a mile inland, just opposite Veliki Drvenik, about a mile away, and provides good shelter. Although it is on the mainland, and the Adriatic highway and motorway pass close by, it is not too crowded, even in summer. However, like most of the bays between Rogoznica and Marina, there has been a lot of building in the past decades, and the resulting tourist accommodation does not offer a particularly picturesque view and has fairly devastated the original beauty of the place. If you anchor here, though, you will not notice it too much. On the other hand, there are always large fishing boats moored here, and so there is always something going on and you can buy fresh fish. On the north shore, near the jetty, there is a small marina. If you sail into Vinišće, you will be fairly well protected from waves, unless the E wind is blowing. But the bura can be strong, as can the jugo. The outer section of the bay is more open and deeper, between 20 and 27 metres, and this is the usual place to drop anchor. In the last third of the bay, the depth is between 3 and 10 metres. The bed is silty and provides good purchase, and the marina owner has placed about fifteen buoys. They provide the best safety during the bura. In normal summer conditions, when the maestral is up, you will feel quite safe at anchor and have a pleasant swim from your boat. There are several shops and restaurants in the village, but I have never been particularly drawn to them. I prefer to have coffee in the marina and make my own supper on board.
