When I anchor in Prožura, I take the dinghy to the waterfront, then walk to the road running above the village from Maranovići to Sobra, from where I can enjoy one of the finest views in the Adriatic. This bay, which extends almost 800 metres inland, with its high, rocky shore, is protected by three small islands – Borovac, Planjak and Senjevac, with Golić Rock. It is divided into two sections by a small peninsula running towards Planjak from the middle of the east shore. There used to be a fishing village in the south part, but in the last couple of decades it has developed into a tourist village. Having climbed up to the road, I continue for another hundred metres up to the old village of Prožura, which preserves its original appearance, down to the donkeys in the stables by the entrance to the village, which is not completely abandoned, at least not in summer. You can anchor in both parts of the bay. If you choose the south section, drop anchor in the sandy bed at a depth of between 5 and 10 metres, and you will be in the heart of the village. It is well sheltered from all winds except the bura and tramontana, which cause swell. If you choose the east section, which is more enclosed, the depths are greater, over 20 metres, so you should moor to one of the buoys in front of Marija’s tavern (where you will then be expected to eat, of course), or anchor by Senjevec or Planjak, tying up stern to shore. Watch out for the bura here, too. There are two other good restaurants in the village, apart from Marija’s, which is excellent.
