The uninhabited bay of Sveti Juraj is only two miles west of Krk and is usually full of small boats and swimmers. Its two arms provide good protection from all winds except the jugo, from which there is some shelter in the east arm. Most sailors drop anchor and tie up stern to shore. There is room in the middle of the bay for two or three larger boats at anchor. The depth is around 10 metres and the bed is sandy. In the evening, when the day trippers have left and peace reigns, you can anchor further towards the base of the bay, using two stern ropes to tie up to both shores of the arm. There are two old dolphins on the east side and another between the arms. The shores are rocky, with small beaches, and dense undergrowth reaches down to the sea. Above the west arm, there are some pretty, well maintained olive groves. If you want to get supplies or visit Krk town, there is a metalled road, but it will take you a good forty minutes of brisk walking to reach the town. A mile west of Sveti Juraj is Lagdimor Bay, sheltered from W and N winds, but completely exposed to the jugo. So it is mostly used during the day, although you can spend the night here when the weather is suitable. Drop anchor in the sandy bed, covered in sea grass, at a depth between 5 and 15 metres. The shores are steep and covered in undergrowth, and there is a pretty beach at the base of the bay.
