The most recessed bay on this side of Cres is Ul. There is a rock by the east point, which locals have built up with a pile of rocks, to make it more visible. Similar points of orientation are on the surrounding low points. You can see the houses of Punta Križa from the bay, about a kilometre away. This is the second, northern harbour for the village. At the base of the bay there are three jetties, and by the largest, the depth is 1.8 metres, but they are fully occupied by local boats, so you will have to drop anchor (the middle of the bay is 4 metres deep). The outer section of the bay is exposed to NE winds and waves, and during the bura, it is safest to take refuge in the arm extending northwest, if your draught is less than 1.5 metres. Two small boats are anchored here. There are four bollards, two on each shore. If you do not feel like making your own evening meal, there is a small tavern in the village. Take the dinghy earlier in the day to the base of the bay, and choose your fish for supper. If there is no room in Ul, the next bay to the north, Vrč, is usually completely empty, and its many arms provide good shelter from all winds except from the east. Anchor in the sandy, silty bed, at a depth of between 3 and 7 metres.
